Flip flops are one of the most versatile pieces of footwear in the world. They can be worn at the beach, on a walk through the park, or even around the house—and they’re always perfect for a quick change of pace. But not all flip flops are created equal. And if you’re looking for an extra layer of comfort and style, you’ve come to the right place!
Hari Mari is a brand known for quality footwear that’s built to last. Their flip flops are made from high-quality materials like leather and rubber and feature top-of-the-line designs that will last through years of wear and tear. You won’t find any gimmicks here—just shoes that make your feet feel even better than they already do!
Enter the Hari Mari Scouts, which we had the privilege to review.
I was first introduced to Scout Finch when I was in 7th grade, and I liked her immediately.
She was smart, curious, a bit sassy, but with a strong sense of right and wrong. Scout, of course, is one of the main characters in Harper Lee’s classic work of American literature To Kill A Mockingbird. She is the light and spirit of this heartbreaking story. A bit rough around the edges, Scout is full of personality and character.
I don’t know if Hari Mari named their Scouts line of flip flops after her – probably not, but she is what first came to mind when they showed up on my doorstep. As is the case with most Hari Mari’s, the Scouts come in a broad and fun range of colors, though the palette is a bit more muted than some of their other offerings.
My Scouts are blue and grey. The thick strap is a dark blue heavy gauge nylon on top with a grey, memory foam liner on the inside – a Hari Mari trademark
“… Scouts scream summer.”
The footbed is very soft and comfortable, made of durable leather which sits atop a beach friendly, soft foam midsole in a sandwiched white – blue – white pattern. This all rests on top of a durable dark grey hard-rubber sole. They look beach- and boat-ready – Scouts scream summer.
The fit is nearly perfect, though the strap is a bit loose, but this doesn’t cause tons of toe curl because the extra wide straps keep them on nicely. They fit like a pair of “fashion” sneakers meant to be worn untied. They stay on for sure but aren’t really meant for much more than a stroll. And that is just fine with me.
The sole is durable and provides the traction needed for beach strolls, boardwalk jaunts, and light boating. Traction is provided by horizontal strips of rubber and the Hari Mari name embossed over and over again across the sole. Making sure that you leave your Hari Mari mark in your wake.
“…they look both new and familiar.”
The Scouts are one of Hari Mari’s original offerings and have become a classic. The styling looks both new and familiar.
Though best suited for true summertime activities such as the beach, tiki bar or boat deck; I’m sure you could pull them off at most summertime casual-leaning events. They’re not formal but not sloppy.
Like Scout Finch, the Hari Mari Scouts exude life, personality and fun. These are definitely going into my regular flip flop rotation and will see lots of play time this summer.
